The Local, USA
Having created all of their Minnesota based pubs and restaurants, Design and Build has a long standing relationship with LP. In 2006, they approached us to create their largest pub to date, The Local. Located in the business district of Minneapolis, a large proportion of their clientele would be corporate. From various site inspections and discussions, it was felt that a high-end Victorian style pub would best maximise the space and compliment their target market.
With 17,000 sq. ft. to utilise, eight unique spaces were created;
The Porter Pub
The Porter Pub is the focal point for the whole pub design. A handcarved 80-foot-long hardwood solid bar top stretches the length of the space and is complimented by a handcrafted 21 foot tall backbar. The design is complete with the use of stained glass, terrazzo floors and cozy snugs.
Whiskey Lounge
A bevy of semi-private with handcarved mahogany snugs featuring sparkling etched crystal and little treasures in every nook and cranny.
The Choir
A casual living-room feel, with soft leather couches, armchairs, and rail seating.
The Sanctuary
An intimate space, with a beamed ceiling, artfully aged golden wallpaper and a wood-burning fireplace.
The Kissing Room
Located in the back hallway of the pub, it is an intimate space with dim lighting and cosy furnishings.
The Hollow
The Hollow is composed of warm textured walls, flickering candlelight, soft leather benches and an elegantly domed ceiling.
The Boardroom
A rich, wood-panelled space with a solid hardwood table and high back, hand crafted, red leather chairs.
The Patio
To attract the passing trade, a palette of colourful café chairs and umbrellas were employed.
